Human pollution is not limited to Earth. It can be found in orbit, where space junk is already regularly threatening the International Space Station and other satellites. How much more would it take to make it all unusable? If ever a real world war is launched, we’ll probably quickly find out, as satellites would likely be taken out right at the beginning. It may be possible to launch a sneak attack that might take out everything in geosynchronous orbit, producing huge amounts of debris. Since orbits below that altitude ultimately decay and objects above that will slowly drift away, the empty Earth could be left with a lovely shiny ring. It would be a silent witness for alien visitors of the suicidal monkeys that once lived here.
