President Trump’s proposal on Gaza, that the Palestinians leave and the US take it over to transform it into a “Riviera”, is pretty much one would expect from a Manhattan real estate developer with no conscience or other human feelings. The idea quickly outraged everyone in the world except right-wing Israelis, and is flatly impossible on the face of it, as he must have known.
There’s no doubt that this insane idea, and the pious sentiments at the Prayer Breakfast that he expressed are stunts designed to 1) shift attention away from his outrageous, unconstitutional power grabs here at home, and 2) normalize craziness. It’s an old, tried and true pattern he uses: Trump floats an idea, freaking everyone out and then, if he proposes something slightly less insane, the latter proposal will seem more acceptable, even rational. It’s just another way to bully everyone into doing what he wants.
Trump’s Gaza plan has stunned the region. Here’s a look at the serious obstacles it faces
In their own words: What Trump said about Gaza and how top administration officials contradicted him
But there may be much more to this than just Trump’s usual shenanigans. Likewise with his task force to prevent “anti-Christian targeting and discrimination” and his call to “bring religion back” that he announced at the National Prayer Breakfast. Such a statement coming from him normally would induce hysterical laughter and/or vomiting. If however, he did get religion after his assassination attempt, it’s a very bad sign as it will only feed his megalomania.
Trump tells prayer breakfast he wants to root out ‘anti-Christian bias’ and urges ‘bring God back’
One of the things Antichrist will do is to bring a temporary peace to the Holy Land. Is this impossible? Or could a professional real estate magnate and presidential con man sell such a thing? Who knows? But if Donald Trump is involved, it does not pay to underestimate him or his duplicity.
