The Vatican is going broke. While traditionalists blame the decline in donations to Pope Francis’ liberalism, the real reason is obvious. Rome, with its medieval view of biology, science, and human relations, has little intellectually to offer the 21st Century. Morally, it’s long been bankrupt due to the clergy sex abuse crisis around the world, and that has doubtless drained much of its funds too. It has used every method to hide the truth, deny payouts, and above all, keep cases out of the courts in order to keep its grip on the faithful. Yet, its reliance on lawyers and money led to this impoverishment as it will do anything to preserve clerical privileges. God forbid they should ever let women run things, but this is exactly what they deserve for not obeying the Gospel.
Fortunately for the Curia, the pope has decreed a Great Jubilee next year, which will doubtless help top off the donation boxes, as they always do.
